Ioannis Psilopoulos studied Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens and in parallel had a successful career in Judo.
He worked in the Public Power Corporation of Greece (PPC), in the field of the Thermoelectric Power Plants Engineering and Construction, as well as in the field of the Lignite Mines Engineering and Construction. During his career, he elaborated numerous electromechanical engineering studies and coordinated the construction of over 25 Thermal Power Plants. He continued to cooperate with PPC as Technical Advisor in the field of Power Plants development, up to 2012. Since then, he has been offering his services as free-lancer Technical Advisor.
His rich sport career began as an active high-level athlete (basketball, judo) and as Sports Official (Member of the SEGAS Judo Technical Committee, Co-founder, Gen. Secretary and President of the Hellenic Judo Federation, Gen. Secretary of the European Union Judo Confederation, Member of the European Judo Union Scientific Committee, Member and Ass. Gen. Secretary of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Ass. Chef de Mission of the Hellenic Olympic Team in Barcelona and Sydney Olympic Games, Chef de Mission of the Hellenic Delegation in Lisbon and Esbjerg EYOF, Sports Installations Director of the Athens Mediterranean Games, and Chief Administrator in various Sports Venues).
Since 2004, he has been Member of the European Fair Play Movement and since 2008 its General Secretary. He has been the European Fair Play Movement representative to the EPAS Consultative Committee/Council of Europe and has participated as a keynote speaker in international Fora, dealing with Fair Play issues.
He has been honored by National and International organizations for his services to European Sports.
