World Fair Play Day
On May 19, 2025, proclaimed by the United Nations as World Fair Play Day, a historic milestone was reached by recognizing the universal importance of Fair Play in sport and in society. On this occasion, all our members, together with ambassadors, took part in this collective mobilization by sharing messages and actions to remind everyone that Fair Play is far more than a sporting principle: it is a genuine way of living together.
The origins of this day are rooted in several parallel initiatives. In French-speaking Belgium, Panathlon Wallonie-Bruxelles has been organizing a Fair Play Day every year since 2013, while more than ten years ago the International Fair Play Committee was already discussing the idea of a worldwide mobilization at UNESCO. In 2020, a first international version was launched, driven by the International Fair Play Committee, Panathlon International and the European Fair Play Movement, with the aim of promoting ethical values in sport on a global scale.
