REGULATIONS of the European Fair Play Awards
and
European Fair Play Movement Awards
In 1996, EFPM established the European Fair Play Awards which aim to promote the principles of Fair Play in Europe. The Fair Play Awards convey an important message to promote fair play on the pitch, and in society promoting stronger citizenship in the future for us all. The purpose of these awards is to recognize people who at an important crossroads, whether in sports or in private life, choose the right path. The Awards honor individuals, organizations, or entities for their outstanding contribution to Fair Play, demonstrated through behavior, action, or advocacy.
The deadline for submitting all nominations is specified in the call for proposals, which are issued each year.

Note:
To nominate a candidate for any EFP/EFPM award, please complete the“Award Nomination Form.” Only nominations submitted using this official form will be accepted.
Awards are discretionary andonly given ifworthy proposals are received.
Based on the jury’s decision,EUROPEAN FAIR PLAY SPECIAL AWARD and DIPLOMAS OF RECOGNITION may also be awarded.
Selection & Awarding:
EFPM Awards Jury selects the Laureates.
Announcement: Laureates will be published on the EFPM website and social media.
The Laureates will be informed by email.
Award Presentation: Done during the annual EFP Congress, or by the nominating organisation at its location.
The granting of the various awards mentioned is entirely at the discretion of the EFPM.
Awards will only be presented if the Jury receives suitable nominations for candidates deemed worthy of the honour.

European Fair Play Plaque of Merit and Diploma made under the patronage of the European Olympic Committees
European Fair Play Plaque of Merit and Diploma is awarded to an organisation or an individual who has made a notable contribution to the ethical values in sport (e.g., fairness, respect, integrity).
Category 1: Organisation
Eligible entities:
National Fair Play organization/ sports organization/ educational institution
Awarded for contributions to:
Dissemination of Fair Play and tolerance
Support for initiatives that preserve and promote ethical values in sport
Category 2: Individual
Eligible personalities for personal contribution/service in relation to:
Implementing ethical values in sport
Developing a national Fair Play organisation
Educating youth or athletes in Fair Play and tolerance
Advancing the study or understanding of sports ethics
OR
An exceptional sportsmanlike act, such as:
A notable gesture of Fair Play
Outstanding sportsmanship during a sports event
Nominations may be submitted by:
National Fair Play organizations
European National Olympic or Paralympic Committees
Special Olympics in Europe and Eurasia
Members of the EFPM Executive Committee
Each nomination must include a written report describing the project or event, clearly outlining how it was carried out, and justifying the proposed award. If the nominee is an individual, details of personal merits must be presented. The proposal should include photographs, videos and other relevant supporting material.
Note:
A maximum of one European Fair Play Plaque of Merit and Diploma will be awarded in each of the two categories listed above — one for an organisation and one for an individual.
European Fair Play Diploma made under the patronage of the European Olympic Committees
European Fair Play Diploma is awarded to an organisation or an individual who has made a notable contribution to the ethical values in sport (e.g., fairness, respect, integrity).
Category 1: Organisation

EFPM ‘SPIRIT OF FAIR PLAY’ AWARD
Eligibility: the EFPM ‘Spirit of Fair Play’ Award may be presented to a team, club, sports federation, public or private institution, organisation, group of spectators/fans, or individuals in recognition of the following:
Projects and campaigns aimed at preventing discrimination and violence of all kinds;
Initiatives that use sport as a tool for positive social change, social integration, and breaking down barriers;
Acts of fairness by players, fans, officials, etc., toward competitors, organisations, or others during or in connection with sports competitions;
Exemplary behaviour maintained over a long period, and ongoing commitment to fairness on or off the sports field;
Development and implementation of projects or campaigns promoting sportsmanship, exemplary behaviour, and the principles of Fair Play;
Initiatives aimed at combating child labour and protecting the rights of workers involved in producing Olympic goods and sportswear;
Work with children and young people to educate them on Fair Play, tolerance, and the discouragement of discrimination, helping them better understand these values.
Nominations can be made by:
individuals, sports federations, or public/ private institutions. Each nomination must include a report describing the project, event or personality, accompanied by photographs, videos, and any other relevant supporting materials. This report should clearly demonstrate the implementation of the project and provide justification for the proposed Award. If the nominee is an individual, details of personal merits must be presented.
EFPM “FAIR PLAY VOX” AWARD, MADE UNDER THE AUSPICES OF AIPS EUROPE
Eligibility: to honour media professionals and institutions that promote Fair Play, Tolerance, Ethical values in sport and society. This Award may be presented to
- Media outlets (newspapers, TV, online platforms, etc.)
- Journalists and reporters
- Institutions and companies in the media sector
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Long-term commitment to ethical values
- Efforts to promote Fair Play, tolerance, and intercultural understanding
- Actions to ban war/disrespectful language in sports reporting
- Support for social responsibility campaigns through sport
- Promotion of anti-doping education
- Communication projects for positive social change
- Initiatives for youth physical/emotional health
Submissions must include:

EFPM “Fair Play Flame” Award – for young people up to 18 years old (based on birth year)
Eligibility: The EFPM ‘Fair Play Flame’ Award may be presented to teams, classes, or individuals for outstanding efforts in:
- Demonstrating Fair Play during sports.
- Helping friends or schoolmates in need.
- Organizing events (sports, cultural, charitable) for:
- Orphanages
- Homes for the handicapped
- Socially deprived children
- Supporting elderly in need
- Environmental actions (events or initiatives to protect/enhance the environment).
- Participants choose the activity most aligned with friendship, tolerance, and togetherness.
Nominations can be made by:
individuals, schools, classes, sports federations, or public / (private institutions.
Each nomination must include a report describing the project or event, personality, accompanied by photographs, videos, and any other relevant supporting materials. This report should clearly demonstrate the implementation of the project and provide justification for the proposed Award. If the nominee is an individual, details of personal merits must be presented.
Note:
Given the apolitical nature of the European Fair Play Movement, individuals holding active political office, as well as former political figures, shall not be considered for Fair Play awards. This ensures that the awards remain fully independent, impartial, and free from any political influence or interpretation.
