1999 EUROPEAN FAIR PLAY DIPLOMA (Individuals)  DOĞAN ŞAHIN (TUR)

for the contribution made to the spread of the values and principles of Fair Play and Tolerance

Doğan Şahin, a long-standing member of the Turkish National Olympic Committee, has achieved strong results in major open-water swimming events, including the Cross-Channel Swim, Loire International Marathon, Nile River Marathon, and Capri–Naples Marathon Swim. A construction engineer and corporate executive at the Hacıbekir Group, he remains active in sport at nearly 80 years of age.
