Passions never ends … with Fair Play and for Peace

Around 4000 participants from more than 200 European universities representing 31 countries arrived in Salerno for 2 weeks of the competition from July 18 till August 1st, with the area being easily accessible from all regions of Italy and the rest of Europe.

The programme includes 13 sports disciplines, several of which highlight the importance of inclusion. Beyond the sporting competitions themselves, however, the Organising Committee and the European University Sports Association (EUSA) were keen to place the Games under the banner of Fair Play, in partnership with the European Fair Play Movement (EFPM). The theme promoted by EFPM — “Fair Play, Spirit of Sport” — is prominently displayed throughout the sporting venues during the Games.

Philippe Housiaux, President of EFPM, expressed his gratitude to Haris Pavletić, President of EUSA, for the strong commitment of the Association to reinforcing this message and promoting the fundamental values of sport.

The event also provided an opportunity to continue discussions between EUSA and the ESSEPA programme on safeguarding issues within universities, as well as with the European Athlete Student (EAS) initiative.

Laura Capranica (EAS), Andrej Pišl (EUSA) and Philippe Housiaux (EFPM) marked these growing partnerships with a symbolic photograph reflecting their shared commitment and cooperation.
