THE LEGACY OF PARIS 2024
19 MAY: WORLD FAIR PLAY DAY
On this World Fair Play Day, we remember what the Olympic and Paralympic Games gave us in 2024: inspiration, pride, and a lasting legacy.
Together with the CFFP, the CNOSF reminds us that fair play is not only about shaking hands at the end of a competition or a match: it is an attitude, a way of life, a choice to prefer peace over provocation, cooperation over conflict, and inclusion over exclusion.
Fair play is a compass that helps us choose what truly matters: mutual support, solidarity, listening, and kindness. It shows that one can be strong without being violent, ambitious without crushing others, and competitive without losing humanity.
This future is being built by you, the younger generation, every time you choose encouragement over insults, every time you extend a hand instead of pushing someone away, every time you choose respect over violence.
Generation 2024 now carries this legacy forward: to play in order to grow, to respect in order to move forward, and to protect the Earth as a partner in the game. Together, let us use this World Fair Play Day to promote:
• a sport free from violence, where living together is not an ideal but a daily practice;
• a sport where equality between women and men is no longer a struggle, but a reality;
• a sport where ecology is no longer an issue, but a commitment.
The Paris 2024 Games reminded us that exemplary sport is sport that protects: others, the planet, and equality. Preserving our playing fields, defending our values, rejecting violence, and choosing cooperation are the foundations of sustainable and human-centered sport.
Fair play is our legacy. It is also our future — the future we are building together.
