Today is World Fair Play Day
Brussels, 19 May
Today is World Fair Play Day, observed globally following the United Nations General Assembly resolution adopted on 1 July 2024, which officially established 19 May as a day dedicated to promoting fair play values in sport and society.
In Brussels, Manneken Pis, one of the city’s most iconic symbols, marks the occasion by wearing a special Fair Play costume, delivering a symbolic message of respect, integrity, and solidarity.
This initiative is supported by Panathlon International, the International Fair Play Committee, and the European Fair Play Movement, highlighting that fair play is not only a sporting principle but also a universal value and a way of life.
World Fair Play Day serves as a global reminder of the importance of ethical behavior, mutual respect, and cooperation both on and off the field.
