2023 EUROPEAN FAIR PLAY MOVEMENT “DIPLOMA OF RECOGNITION” goes to TEAM B BASKET CLUB “EMBARQUEMENT IMMÉDIAT” (BEL)

Through the practice of adapted sports and for this project “Basketball”, the club aims to raise
awareness, education, progression, and the valorization of the person with a disability in order to
promote his autonomy, integration and, ultimately, his socialization. During this sport activity, the
values linked to fair play are an integral part of our trainings, training courses and competitions.
The association is extremely proud of the Basketball B team because during the Special Olympics
Belgium in Louvain-la-Neuve, it received in addition to a beautiful second place in its category, the
Fair Play Cup. To receive this trophy, the organizers base themselves on several points:- the
number of fouls committed during the game- the referees at the end of the game give a rating for
each team in relation to the attitude of the players and the coach (fair-play attitude).- two observers
of the game also give a rating: one for the cohesion of the team and one for the attitude towards the
other players.
Clarification from the supervisors: “this team which has been evolving for a few years now, amazes
us with its progress over the years but also with its attitude of continuous fun! Our team made very
few mistakes. The attitude of the players and the staff during the games was very positive, with
encouragement between us and a positive state of mind towards the opponents. This cup represents
a great pride for the players. We are very proud of our players, and even more proud of the Fair
Play Cup than of the second place. We work all year long during the trainings on the positive and
collective spirit and it’s wonderful when we see that the work pays off”.
